This Camargue cross is in vermeil crimped with bohemian garnets, also called the Gardians' cross or the Saintes Maries de la Mer cross, created in 1926 at the request of the Marquis de Baroncelli.

Located in les Saintes Maries de la Mer for over 25 years we designed this lovely ornament in the spirit of the Marquis and the Camargue tradition. It symbolizes the Gardian nation by associating the gardians by the tridents at each end of the cross (Faith), the fishermen of the place by the anchor (Hope) and the Saintes Maries by heart (Charity).

On each may 17 th, Les Saintes Maries festival, the guardians carry the relics of Sainte Marie Jacobé and Sainte Marie Salomé on horseback to the sea with their Camargue cross. The statue of Sarah the Black, virgin of the gypsies, is immersed in the sea to the waist.

The color and brightness of Bohemian garnets reinforce the spirituality of the cross.
